Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other marked automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report initial examinations suggest the substance was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities stated they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have requested to the public for tips.
A senior representative stated the vandalism made him stunned and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on social media, recalling the killing of nine victims by a shooter targeting residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
